The Smells of Summer

Summer doesn’t officially start for another few weeks, but Memorial Day is the de facto start of the season as far as I’m concerned. It’s high time you (and your house!) smell the part.

Summer Skin, Summer Fridays Coconut, vanilla blossom, almond
Here’s my truth: I’m pretty bad at full-body lotioning. I don’t like the feeling of my ratty Fruit of the Loom undershirt sticking to my skin after a shower. Good thing I found this. Summer Friday’s body lotion is rich and emollient, but with a satin finish that lets me get dressed tout suite.
Encens 9, Le Labo Frankincense, amber, clove
Most people don’t think of clove as a warm-weather scent. I get it. The association of cloves to holiday ciders is so obvious (overt, even) it’s hard to see it in the context of mid-June. Instead, dear reader, I implore you to imagine iced chais and balmy, windows-open nights on demand. Encens 9 is like that.
Botanica, Prose Eucalyptus, lavender, rosemary
I’ve recently shaved off the remains of the dying possum on my head I was passing off as hair. Just in time for summer! Even still, it doesn’t stop me from enjoying the spoils of my Prose shampoo scent of choice—Botanica. It’s full-on heady herbals that make your soul feel about 15° cooler. Don’t tell the Prose team, but I washed my entire body with it during the last heatwave. Economical? No. Invigorating? Yes.
